New Parents
Welcome—and congratulations on your new son or daughter with Down syndrome. We hope the materials in this section will answer some of your questions about Down syndrome and will assist you as you prepare for the particular joys and challenges of raising your new little one.

You may also be interested in learning more about our Parent Support Program, which is available to families in the Chicago area. Many of our new parents have found it helpful to talk to another mother or father who can understand some of what they are experiencing, and other parents can also be a great source of information about local resources. If you live outside the Chicago area, there are two national Down syndrome organizations you can contact. They might be able to assist you directly or, if not, they should be able to refer you to a local group in your area who can.
